Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

BeOut (“BeOut,” “we,” “us”) is an early-stage, individually-operated project based in Canada. This policy explains, plainly and accurately, what information BeOut collects through thebeout.com today, what it's used for, and what your rights are. BeOut currently does not have a registered business entity — it is operated directly by its founder.

What we collect

BeOut collects information you give us in two places, and nowhere else.

1. The waitlist form

  • Your email address.
  • Either the city you selected from our list, or, if your city isn't listed, the city name you typed in.

2. The event submission form

If you submit an event at /submit-event, we collect what you enter about the event — its name, description, date and time, venue, address, category, price note, and link — along with two pieces of information about you:

  • Your name.
  • Your email address.

Your name and email are not published. They are not shown on the site, on the map, or in any event listing. They exist so we can reach you about the event you submitted — to confirm it's live, or to ask a question if something is unclear. The event details you provide are intended for publication, so please don't put personal information in them that you wouldn't want shown publicly.

We also collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics through a privacy-preserving analytics tool, described under “Site analytics” below. We do not require or support creating an account, collect passwords, process payments, or request your precise location. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. The site does set one small cookie to remember whether you chose English or French — it holds nothing but that choice and is not used to identify you. If our practices change — for example, if we add a location-based “near me” feature — we'll update this policy and change the date above.

Why we collect it

Waitlist: solely to email you when BeOut launches in your city, and, if you asked for a city we don't yet cover, to help us decide where to expand next.

Event submissions: to review your event before it appears on BeOut, to publish it if we accept it, and to contact you about it. Every submission is read by a person before anything goes live — we don't publish automatically.

We don't use either address for any other purpose, we don't send marketing unrelated to BeOut, and we don't sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how many people visit BeOut and which pages they use. This is entirely separate from the waitlist and from event submissions, and it does not use cookies.

Vercel does not identify you with a cookie or a persistent identifier. Instead, each visit is associated with a hash generated from the incoming request, and that hash resets every day. This means visitors cannot be tracked from one day to the next, or from BeOut to any other website. What we see is aggregated and anonymized: how many views each page received, which site referred you, and general technical details such as your country, browser, operating system, and device type. We cannot see who you are, and we cannot connect any of it to your waitlist entry or to an event you submitted.

This data is processed and stored by Vercel, our hosting provider. On our current plan it is retained for approximately one month.

Where it's stored

Waitlist entries and event submissions are stored in a Supabase-hosted database physically located in Canada (Supabase's Canada Central region). The website itself is hosted on Vercel, a US-based hosting provider, which means some data may be processed on infrastructure located outside Canada as part of normal web hosting operations (for example, routing your form submission to our database). Vercel also processes and stores the anonymous site analytics data described above.

One additional third party is involved in event submissions: when you submit an event, we send ourselves a notification email containing your submission, including your name and email address, so we know to review it. That email is delivered by Resend, a third-party email provider, and may be processed on infrastructure outside Canada. Resend is used only to deliver that message to us; it is not used to email you, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

We don't use any other third party to store or process your information. Event listings shown on BeOut also come from Ticketmaster's public Discovery API — that's data we pull in about events, not data we send out about you.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist entries while the waitlist is active, so we can notify you at launch.

We keep event submissions — including your name and email — while the event is under review and after it is published, so we have a record of where a listing came from and can reach you if something about it needs correcting. If we decline a submission, we keep it only as long as we need to avoid re-reviewing the same thing.

If you'd like your waitlist entry or your submission contact details deleted at any point, contact us (below) and we'll remove them.

Your rights

Under Canadian federal privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. If you are a Quebec resident, Quebec's Law 25 gives you those rights as well, along with the right to withdraw consent and the right to receive the personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format.

To exercise any of these, email us at the address below — we'll respond directly, since BeOut is small enough that every request reaches a real person.

Security

Your data is protected by Supabase's access controls (Row Level Security), and all traffic to BeOut is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Event submissions are held in a table that the public side of the website cannot read at all — the browser can send a submission, but it can never read one back, which means organizer names and email addresses are not retrievable from the website by anyone. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we don't collect more than we need, specifically to limit what's at risk if something ever goes wrong.

Children

BeOut is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 14. Quebec's Law 25 requires a parent or tutor to consent on behalf of a minor under 14, and we apply that threshold to everyone rather than only to Quebec residents. If you believe a child has joined our waitlist or submitted an event, contact us and we'll remove the entry.

Language

This policy is published in English and in French, and both versions describe the same practices. If you notice any discrepancy between them, please tell us — we'll correct it rather than rely on one version over the other.

Changes to this policy

As BeOut adds features — accounts, a mobile app, location-based search — this policy will be updated to match what we actually do, with the “last updated” date above changed accordingly.

Questions, access or deletion requests, or anything else privacy-related: info@thebeout.com.

This policy was drafted to accurately describe BeOut's actual, current data practices, but it is not a substitute for review by a qualified lawyer — especially before BeOut adds accounts, payments, or launches its mobile app to the public.
